The Fellowship’s regular monthly board meeting always seems to fall two days after a school board election, so it has been a tradition for the Fellowship to gather to discuss the election results and where CMS appears to be heading.

This year, the Fellowship invited to the meeting all the board candidates who had campaigned right up to Tuesday’s vote, but were not elected. Hans Plotseneder attended, and shared his concerns that the campaign for a nonpartisan board had been heavily influenced by political parties and influential political organizations. He also expressed hopes, but also grave doubts, that the new board would in fact tackle the issues facing Charlotte-Mecklenburg as it tries to educate all children.

All present at the meeting had access to election returns, charts, maps and other data collected on six tabloid-sized pages. Click here download a PDF of those pages. Readers finding errors in the material should e-mail us so we can make corrections in the version that remains online.
